King Jones

King , AKA dinkie, AKA winga, AKA one brain cell, AKA nugget, AKA little underbite fella, AKA cinnamonroll, AKA Just A Guy is the very best boy and our best friend for almost 14 full years. We rescued him at age 19 when he was only around 6 months old; before his underbite even came to be. Over the course of his lifetime, King lived in 8 different cities, but his mom and dad knew they wanted his golden years to be in a home with a big backyard prime for sunbathing, so they bought him a whole house just for that reason. King was best known for his scandalous behavior anytime food was near, and each morsel had to be guarded with the most militant attention. However, King was also known for how well he cuddles. King was attached to us at every opportunity, and our souls have always been deeply intertwined. King would make the decision at bedtime to press himself up against dad’s back so he could watch mom but would change his mind every single morning and climb over to have a few hours of time as mom’s little spoon before our morning began. Every morning, we would hear about it if we moved too slowly to get his breakfast! When we left the house, King made sure to tell us all about his day when we would get home. King has been there through the worst times in life, the best times in life; through seeing his mom and dad get engaged and married; through graduate degrees; through pandemics; through cross-country moves. King traveled on airplanes, spent time in the mountains, in the snow, at the beach, in the city. There was not a person who met King who wasn’t absolutely and completely charmed by him. He loved everyone he met, too, but especially his mom, his dad, his nana and papa, Jazz and Mini, his granny and grandaddy, his aunt Abby, his aunt Caitlin and uncle Eric, Dr. G and everyone at Avondale Animal Hospital, as well as many, many, many friends. Thank you for loving our boy like he deserves. King’s parents will never know a love and a joy quite like his again. From dad: My dude. Thank you for bringing immense joy into our lives every moment no matter what was happening around us. You were there through every big moment in our lives and will continue to be in our hearts as we progress through life. I will miss being barked at if I wasn’t walking fast enough to feed you, you laying sideways to take maximum space on the couch/bed, and your grunt kisses. I love you big fella. From mom: My little coworker, my best friend in the whole wide world, I promise I will never leave you. I miss cleaning up your bones only for you to get them all back out 20 minutes later. I miss our little walks where you’d steal a bite of dirt. I miss my little spoon so, so much. Not a moment will go by where you’re not at the top of my heart forever. I love you my buggie.
